Last week, I shared the story of Autumn Nordall, who advocates both for herself as a person with a disability, and for the greater disability community through her work with Options, a nonprofit whose mission is to empower people with disabilities to be able to live independent lives.

Autumn’s goal in her advocacy is to help people without disabilities to have what she calls “aha moments” — when they understand the obstacles that people with disabilities face, and see how they can make a difference to ease those obstacles.

In other words, Autumn’s goal in life is to build empathy.

Finding, building, and sharing the stories of the people, of the communities who are COMMITTED to compassion, kindness, and empathy — that is my mission. Please join me in that mission, and support me by becoming a free or paid subscriber.

In an effort to get to know Autumn a bit better, I asked her my five typical questions. Here’s how she answered them.

Playing games, digging in the dirt, and hockey

Question: What is your favorite thing to do with the people you love, and who are those people?

Autumn’s answer: I love any time I can spend with the people I love the most!

My family and I enjoy playing all kinds of games together! My mom and I spend most of our time together in the kitchen making something, or outside with our hands in the dirt. In the winter months, you’ll find me in the rink with my hockey family supporting youth hockey, cheering on my son and the team! If I’m extra lucky, I am drinking coffee with my bestie while our kids play (they are currently living over 1,000 miles away).

I also love being with the Options (work) team and being able to do the work we do together!

Gardening, baking, and watching the garden grow

Question: What is the interest, hobby, or passion you’ve enjoyed most consistently throughout your life?
